New Balance wanted to design a sneaker that reduced waste. Enter sonic welding, a construction process popular in industries involving tech materials and camping equipment. The first company to apply technique to sneakers, the Boston-based company is finally bringing the 574 “Sonic” Pack to the States.

Three 574s were designed for the pack. All of them use solid colored uppers of suede with white midsoles and accent bits on the heel. Upper-matching mesh fills out the toe box and is used for the tongue and ankle area of each sneaker, as well. Grey/Yellow, Brown/Orange and Charcoal/Green color pairings have all been designed and should be at your favorite shop soon.
