"Scott Storch raked in hip-hop millions and then snorted his way to ruin"....


When Scott Storch was 8 years old, he was dizzied by a soccer cleat to the head. His mom did not take such injuries in stride. She had been apoplectic when Scott lost his baby teeth in a living-room dive five years earlier, leaving him with a Leon Spinks grin. "I was an overly worrisome mother," admits Joyce Yolanda Storch, who goes mainly by her middle name. "I was overbearing to a fault."

Mom banned Scotty from participating in sports. Instead, she enrolled him in piano classes at Candil Jacaranda Montessori in Plantation, about 15 minutes from their Sunrise home. An old jazz pianist named Jack Keller taught him. A singer herself, Yolanda stopped taking weekday gigs so she could drive Scott to the lessons and scraped together enough cash to buy him a baby grand.

"Scott always told me he had plans to do certain things for the family," she says. "But then I guess things got bad before he got around to it. I read about all these other rappers' mothers — P. Diddy's mother, Kanye West's mother, Jay-Z's mother. Their sons all took care of them."

The Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski has proven to be a can’t-miss sneaker. It seems that regardless of how the team in Oregon dresses it up, it probably looks very good. This next pair, which should drop just in time for Summer, may be one of the best yet.

White perforated leather is draped over every inch of this pair’s upper, and a matching vulcanized sole is in place. These are very similar to a pair Stefan himself gave us a sneak peek of back in October, but that pair seemed to use a slightly different style of perforation. These retain the standard white leather laces we’ve seen often, and details include a subtle white Swoosh and tongue label. GURU of GANG STARR R.I.P.

I woke up this afternoon to some terrible news.... Guru of Gang Starr (43) lost his battle to cancer on Monday (4/19) 2010, after two of undergoing surgery following a heart attack.

Before passing, Guru addressed his fans one last time in a letter provided by Solar. “I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world,” he wrote. “I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options.”

Guru first burst onto the New York rap scene with DJ Premier in the late 1980s. Together as Gang Starr, the group released six albums—1989’s No More Mr. Nice Guy, 1991’s Step into the Arena, 1992’s Daily Operation, 1994’s Hard to Earn, 1998’s Moment of Truth and 2003’s The Ownerz—and helped to create the underground East Coast hip-hop sound. Elam is also credited for being one of the first rappers to merge hip-hop and jazz with his Jazzmatazz series. Since going solo, Guru has gone on to release several discs of his own, including last May’s Guru 8.0: Lost and Found on the independent label 7 Grand.

Guru will trully be missed so in honor of the one of the greatest groups in hip-hop I'm a leave yall with the 1st song I ever heard by Gang Starr..... R.I.P. GURU

Nicki Minaj & Rihanna's 'Last Girl On Earth' Tour

Rapper Nicki Minaj will head out on the road as an opening act for Rihanna’s 2010 Last Girl On Earth tour of North America.

The 25-date tour begins July 2nd at the White River Amphitheater in Seattle, Washington and ends August 25th at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The tour will be a “visual spectacle on a scale unlike anything she has accomplished in her already legendary career,” a representative for Rihanna said in a press release today (April 5th).

At press time, Rihanna, who was discovered by Jay-Z, is the only female artist in the past decade to have six #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

"We've never done a tour to this capacity. The production is unbelievable and the costumes, we just took it to a whole new level,” Rihanna said in a recent interview. “Visually and sonically it's going to be a big step up from the last time. We just keep growing and this time it is a massive production that I cannot wait for.

"The news comes as Rihanna begins her sold out tour of Europe, which starts on April 16th in Antwerp, Belgium, to promote her album Rated R.
